Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get my equipment maintained?

Heating and cooling equipment should be inspected by a qualified technician once a year. Annual maintenance prevents emergency break-downs and enables your equipment to operate at its most efficient, as it was designed to do.

Do I need to cover my outside air conditioning unit in the winter?

It’s always a good idea to keep dirt, leaves, etc. from settling on your air conditioner coil. Covering your air conditioner for the winter will keep off whatever dust and pollutants accumulate along with your snow. Just remember to take the cover off in the spring!

What does SEER stand for?

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. It is a rating that indicates how energy efficient an air conditioner is. The best units now have a SEER rating up to 21.

How long should my equipment last?

With proper care and maintenance, a good quality cooling system can be expected to last about 15 years. Gas furnaces may last up to 20-25 years.

What can I check before calling for service if my unit is not working?

First make sure the unit has power. Check to see if any breakers are thrown in your electrical box. You may want to check your utility’s website or customer service telephone line to see if there are any service interruptions in your area.
